Light Planning with Precision:

Use Case – Museum Lighting
For the redesign of museum lighting, lighting designers must ensure that lighting atmosphere, color effect, and conservation requirements are precisely harmonized.
Particularly demanding is the exact adjustment of color temperatures and illuminance levels in different exhibition areas with varying materials, reflections, and sensitive exhibits.
With the LIGHTmetric, all light measurements are carried out and documented directly on-site. The spectral analysis allows for a precise evaluation of light quality as well as the secure coordination of different LED lighting and any existing traditional lamps.
Through traceable measurement data and exportable reports, results could be communicated transparently to clients and specialist planners – compliant with standards and comprehensible.
Result
✓ Precise color evaluation and light quality
✓ Traceable calibration and thus audit-ready measurement data for documentation
✓ High acceptance by clients
✓ Higher planning reliability in the project workflow
“With the LIGHTmetric, we were able to precisely evaluate light effect and color quality and document our planning transparently.”

Use Case – New Office and Education Building in Munich
When planning a modern office and education building in Munich, the architectural firm had to ensure as early as the design phase that all work, traffic, and common areas complied with current lighting standards.
Particularly critical were the different lighting requirements in meeting rooms, open learning areas, and hallways with changing daylight situations.
With the LIGHTmetric, illuminance levels were precisely recorded and documented directly on-site and during final acceptance. Remote control via app allowed measurements to be carried out flexibly – even in hard-to-reach positions. Furthermore, presenting measurement data during ongoing coordination meetings with site management and electrical planning is a major advantage.
The spectral evaluation of the installed LED systems also enabled a reliable assessment of light quality, leaving no room for discussion.
Result
✓ Simple documentation of all relevant measured values
✓ Faster coordination between planning, site management, and specialist companies
✓ Reproducible measurement results from pre-tests to final acceptance
✓ Fewer rework requirements due to early checks
✓ Higher planning reliability up to the final handover
“With the LIGHTmetric, we were able to document light quality and standard compliance transparently – directly in the project process and without additional coordination effort.”
— Project Management Architecture, Munich
Reviews from our product testers
The LIGHTmetric ONE was developed together with filmmakers and photographers - to meet the demands of the industry.
Outstanding work requires outstanding equipment.

"The app makes it extremely easy to use on the set because I don't have to stand next to it. The touchscreen and buttons do their job, but the app is really a step forward."

Use Case – Series Production with Changing Lighting Conditions
During filming, the camera team had to ensure a consistent visual impact despite changing locations and varying daylight situations.
Particularly challenging were scenes with mixed light from daylight, LED panel lights, and light sources within the shot. Even small deviations in color temperature or illuminance led to visible differences between individual takes and made subsequent color correction significantly more difficult.
With the LIGHTmetric ONE, illuminance levels and spectral properties were precisely recorded and documented directly on set. Remote control via app allowed measurements to be carried out flexibly – even during ongoing set changes or in hard-to-reach positions within complex lighting setups. Additionally, data could be forwarded directly via email for post-processing.
The spectral analysis of modern LED systems also enabled a reliable assessment of light quality for camera, monitoring, and color grading. This allowed problematic color casts to be identified early and corrected directly on set.
Result
✓ Reproducible lighting setups over multiple shooting days
✓ Faster coordination between camera, lighting, and DIT
✓ Less effort in post-production
✓ Consistent visual impact between scenes and episodes
✓ Higher certainty in color correction and grading
“With the LIGHTmetric ONE, we were able to exactly reproduce lighting moods and detect color deviations right on set – this saves an enormous amount of time in post-production.”
— Director of Photography, Series Production Munich
